Bhutan is such a special country that I needed a small guide to take with me, and this covers everything I could want. It is tricky to get into the country and you need an "official" tour company and this is explained in detail so there are no surprises. Plan way ahead as the paperwork takes time - your agency does this for you. The maps are very good as are descriptions of sites; the "20 top experiences" with photos at the beginning will send you in the right direction. The survival guide in the back is thorough and answers any question you could think of. Once again, a terrific Lonely Planet guide (I have tons).

Due to the recent "opening" of Bhutan, there have been few travel books on the country. This LP is about as good as you are going to get at this time. It is often dated in hotel information, but that is understandable.Unless are an Indian citizen, you must be escorted by a travel guide most of the time. This leaves you little room to roam alone. However, it is nice to be able to tell your guide that you want to see or visit a certain place. This book educates you enough to be able to discuss some of these places intelligently with your guide or travel agent.

I couldn't find any travel guide books locally on Bhutan. Since the tour I will be taking in November includes hotels and meals this book was fine for my needs even though it is not the latest edition. I was looking for background info on Bhutan and general travel info.

I bought this guide before my first trip to Bhutan, and it helped me immensely in planning my tour. It contains detailed information about the country--history, culture, geography, and facts for travelers. And it gives accurate information about the trekking routes and cultural tours. As is typical for Lonely Planet publications, this one is interesting and well written, and I found the information to be relevant to my trip. It is not easy to travel to Bhutan (there are many government restrictions), and this book made everything easier. I had such a successful, fun trip that I've been back several times ([...] and I still refer to this edition of the guide. It's packed with good information, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to go to Bhutan.

An excellent source for negotiating your tour. You can not go to Bhutan without a tour guide (required for the visa unless you are a citizen of India). So you can not make use to travel through Bhutan on your own, but a very good history of the country helps you understand and tour companies are flexible for your itinerary.

1/21/2016 Not sure why I got this review request now. Purchased several years ago. Found it useful (but of limited benefit only because we were on a tour package).

great pre-trip info

In anticipation of a trip to Bhutan in 2008 I was looking for a travel guide and opted to buy Lonely Planet's. I read it cover to cover and found to contain very good information, advice, tips, descriptions, recommendations, etc. I travel extensively worldwide and Bhutan will be a novel adventure. It brings back memories of my trip to Tibet in 2000. I highly recommend this guide.

I've purchased all volumes up to 22 and the TV show has just about caught up to wear I am in the novels. These books are friggen awesome. I don't read much and my buddy lent me VOL 1 after he knew I liked the show. Well, I burned through the first one and then just went on a tear buying 4 volumes at a time...the price is pretty good for what you get out of these. $9-$15 is the range I've paid per novel, I'm not sure why they aren't the same but anyways, I keep buying them none the less. The story was written before the TV Show and the show follows the story but there is some differences. The written story is more violent and graphic then the tv show but the tv show does a decent job of sticking with main ideas. I've noticed that certain plot things that happen in the book also happen in the show but there is a unique twist like a different character it happens to or something like that. Which makes reading these volumes great cuz I have some idea of where the story is going (after having watched all tv episodes) but there are still surprises. If you like the TV show and haven't read these, give it a try and you will get a whole new experience of the Walking Dead story. I'm putting this same review under every volume I've purchased (1-22) so people can see it. go buy these!

Each volume of The Walking Dead tends to run in one of two separate veins. The ultra violent and the thoughtful. Volume 8 served as both a ending and a beginning of sorts, providing us with a violent shakeup that changed things forever for Rick and the rest of the survivors. Volumes 9 and this Volume, while providing us with some moderate zombie violence, mostly gives us the chance to dig deeper into the characters and what makes them tick. Rick and a character introduced in the previous volume, Abraham, both are coping with all the brutal and ugly things they have been forced to do just to survive. Things that in the eyes of family and friends may be unforgivable or at least something they cannot accept. We get to witness Rick in action when three men decide to assault him and his boy and what vicious things he is willing to do to protect what is left of his family. Though there is tension between him and Abraham, they share their stories and come to understand one another much better-they will do whatever it takes to survive. The world is an ugly place and all the innocence and beauty in people has pretty much died, leaving the ugly behind...an ugly that is brutally necessary.Into this mix steps Morgan, Rick's old friend that was hiding out in their hometown. Its interesting to see how Morgan, who cannot bring himself to kill someone who has turned into a zombie that he cares about, is feared because perhaps he has gone insane with grief while Rick himself is starting to be feared because he has refused to be consumed by his grief but instead has lashed out at anything in the world that would threaten him.

This volume takes place as the group is on the road making its way to Washington, D.C. with a scientist, Eugene Porter, who can apparently end the outbreak. Rick is immediately at odds with Abraham over their methods on how to lead. With Carl in tow, the three travel to Rick's hometown for any supplies left at Rick's police station and come across an old friend in the process. Along the way, Rick finally sees just how far he is willing to go to protect the family he has left.

This volume has a little more subtlety in comparison with the previous volumes. I say that because they're are a few good breathtakers, but not as much as its predecessors. The most important part of this book is a one-on-one conversation between Rick and Abraham. It was really valuable and its something to carry the series further. The only reason why i give it 4/5 is that I didn't receive the almighty cliffhanger that Kirkman usually gives me. I ended up with a lot of questions by the end, and although I am anxious for more, I still wish these things didn't cost so much! (It adds up)I can't say its bad or a letdown primarily because I couldn't stop reading it. The Walking Dead still has it. I have no problem with it sucking me in and manipulating my sleep patterns. While its not the best of the series, its certainly not the worst and not giving sign of worse to come. Its basically another calm that tells us the worst is yet to come.

The Walking Dead is hands down the BEST comic book out! If anybody is not reading this series, they ought to be. Nothing beats it! Not "Shades of Gray", nothing from Oprah's book club.....NOTHING! Robert Kirkman has made this series so good, they had to make it a TV series! If this show came on HBO or Cinemax, it would probably be WAY better but as it is, AMC is a good station to have it on too! As many comics as I have read, nothing comes close to The Walking Dead. I like reading the trade books because I don't have to try to collect each comic book per week/month. I get to read a bunch of stories in one book. I will continue to get more and more trade books of this series because I will never be disappionted!

If you're a nut for zombies like I am, you will greatly appreciate this awesome and absorbing story from Robert Kirkman. Several of the slightly more generic zombie motifs are given new life (undead life, if you will) here in comic form, making a story that could have been the same-old thing interesting. This particular volume is a real money-saver, giving you the whole series through issue 48 (or through volume 8) for a fraction of the cost of individual issues or volumes. Little on the heavier side for toting around, but jam-packed awesomeness for perusal at home. If you like zombies, do yourself a favor and buy this! Hours of zombie-action will follow.

I made the mistake of purchasing this printing of C.S. Lewis' book without checking reviews. Although the book written by C.S. Lewis is a good one, I would encourage buyers of this book to purchase one from a different publisher. This edition was very difficult to read, because it has many, many typographical errors, uses very small font size that is hard to read, and on every page, substitutes parts of words with symbols or the wrong letters, and occasionally leaves out words altogether. There is no editor or publishing house mentioned in the book itself.

Take note - this product is "print to order" which means that when you order, it is printed and shipped out.Mine has a production date of November 4, 2016.Unfortunately, there are several attributable flawsSurprised by Joy: The Shape of My Early Life which make this a poorly produced item. The first printed page contains a simple listing of the content and a forward by C.S.L.1 - There are no page numbers2 - The typeset and layout are fatiguing to the reader with indistinct paragraphs and only vague chapter divisions with no break in pagination.3 - There are many typos and "orphaned" words and sentences. I counted five on the 12th printed page alone.I suggest you seek a standard published and printed version of the book.

I only give this two stars to represent the content itself being very good - otherwise I would give it one. I rarely take the time to review books, as a busy Mom of four, I barely get time to read them much less review them. But I thought customers should know this book is strangely and terribly printed. If there are other reviews saying this then I guess I should have read them. It has missing words, missing or wrong punctuation, numbers in the place of letters sometimes..! What?? I can still make out the story so I will deal with it, but it sure is annoying. I have attached a couple photos so you can play the see-how-many-typos-you-can-find game. Undoubtedly more than in this hurried review. It's like a college paper before any edits, typed in haste and delirious from lack of sleep... Order from another seller and enjoy intriguing autobiographical writing from dear old Jack (Lewis).

"But what, in conclusion, of Joy? For that, after all, is what the story has mainly been about. To tell you the truth, the subject has lost nearly all interest for me since I became a Christian." From final page of Surprised by Joy.This book describes C. S. Lewis's intellectual journey from Atheism to Christianity, and how the felt experience he calls Joy led him there. After conversion, the Joy that once made everything else in his life pale in comparison became a subject of disinterest to Lewis. His pursuit of the pearl of great price seems to end in an existential malaise. Was Joy just a cosmic bait-and-switch?Lewis's journey begins with early experiences that produced in his imagination "an unsatisfied desire which is itself more desirable than any satisfaction." (p. 18.) These inward experiences filled him with enormous bliss and created an inconsolable longing for something he knew not. The experiences would pass in a moment but they left behind "a longing for the longing that had just ceased" and "everything else that had ever happened to me was insignificant in comparison." (16.) Of this Joy, Lewis wrote that "the central story of my life is about nothing else." (17.)Yet, in connection with his final steps toward Christianity, "No kind of desire was present at all." (231.) Lewis did not attribute his eventual belief in Jesus as the Son of God to an intellectual or emotional decision, or even a determined will. Rather, he describes his conversion in existentialist terms: "[A] man is what he does; there is nothing of him left over or outside the act. As for what we commonly call Will, and what we commonly call Emotion, I fancy these usually talk too loud, protest too much, to be quite believed, and we have a secret suspicion that the great passion or the iron resolution is partly a put-up job." (237.)Looking back on Joy, Lewis wrote, "I now know that the experience, considered as a state of my own mind, had never had the kind of importance I once gave it. It was valuable only as a pointer to something other and outer." The experiences of Joy were relegated to the "lower life of the imagination." They conveyed no spiritual knowledge and imparted no spiritual life: "This lower life of the imagination is not a beginning of, nor a step toward, the higher life of the spirit, merely an image. In me, at any rate, it contained no element either of belief or of ethics; however far pursued, it would never have made me either wiser or better." (167.) No wonder, then, that the subject of Joy had lost nearly all interest for Lewis as a Christian. What leaves this book on a somewhat minor note is that Lewis never describes a real Christian spiritual experience that comes anywhere close to uplifting the soul as Joy did. Nowhere does Lewis speak of Christian experience that compared in any way to the Joy that had filled him with enormous bliss, created inconsolable longing, made all else insignificant in comparison, and of which he would say "the central story of my life is about nothing else." The book ends with the impression that the existential act of belief was the definitive mark of Lewis's Christian experience. There seemed to be no analog for Joy in his own Christianity as there was, for example, with Bernard of Clairvaux who could write: "We taste Thee, O Thou Living Bread and long to feast upon Thee still We drink of Thee the Fountain Head and thirst our souls from Thee to fill"

C.S. Lewis gives an outstanding philosophical explanation of the consistency of the Christian world view and how miracles are consistent with such an outlook - and does it in such an engaging manner typical of his excellent writing skills. Some of the philosophical points are quite deep and illustrate the breadth and depth of C.S. Lewis's understanding of philosophy as well as his good acquaintance with the findings of modern science. The genius of C.S. Lewis is showing the unique and profound difference of the Christian message compared to other philosophies, presenting it in a very straightforward and understandable manner and showing how the overall consistency of this viewpoint meshes well with real experience. Whether someone accepts the message or not, I would think it would be difficult to argue against the coherency of the picture presented here.

The negativity of this rating has nothing to do with the work of CS Lewis and everything to do with the absence of editing. Typos and spelling errors absolutely plague this kindle edition. Considering the fact that most readers who are interested in this work have some familiarity with academic quality, I am surprised that such an edition found its way into the market at all. This is a poor decision on behalf of everyone involved with this publication.

Amazon Best Sellers Rank:

#663,879 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

It is a required textbook for the class; I gave it a 4 star because it is not a well-organized book. A lot of information is crammed together. That being said, this is the ONLY book you need if you want to take the WOCNCB certification test. I bought several wound care study guides from Amazon including Wound Care certification Study guide by Jayesh B. Shah, MD (the information is too basic, not helpful) and CWCN Exam Practice questions by Mometrix (not helpful either; the book has a high rating at Amazon because the owner of the company promises you a free DVD if you would give the book a good rating). Anyways, I passed the board exam and would want to share my experience with people and to help people save some money too.

Book is well written and thorough, easy to read with great illustrations. Love the kindle sample that can free with it. Will now buy the Kindle version D/T ease of reading. and it has great pictures.

This book will help you get through the wound care course!

Very comprehensive information re. wound care management. Highly recommend for the wound care professional or anyone wanting to become well versed in wound care.

This book is and excellent resource for care of wounds and very helpful in assisting nurses in studying for the Certification Exam.

excellent study format, love the excellent pearls included with this book and the ease of study. Thank you

Interesting, informative with detailed concise information. Easy reading with questions at the end of each chapter to review your knowledge.

Great reference book for wound care.
