A comprehensive guide to these three beautiful cities. I liked very much the historical background that was given; Vienna, Budapest, and Prague were not born yesterday and to appreciate their present one must know their past. My quarrel is with organization: overall good but there were some subjects that I wanted to read about a second or third time and had to search them out and this was frustrating.out . Make a note or use a bookmark as you read; it's worth it.

The Cadogan Guides are terrific. We've seen a lot of the world, and I always have a Cadogan Guide at my side or in my day pack. I study them intensely before we depart, and the guides have never let us down. Good combo of art, architecture, restaurants, and done thoughtfully. Good for an adult audience who want more than the basics, which most guides have.

Good price!! Good quality!!... I liked, it is small (thin) enough to pack and transport locally or overseas, big enough to be read as a passenger when traveling by train, airplane, bus, or car. I definetley will make my travel information package purchases at this Amazon site!! Also. delivery was before promissed by Amazon.

I looked all around for a guide to Prague, Vienna and Budapest and could not find one. Then I checked on Amazon and found this book. It is excellent and we have read it in preparation for our trip. We have a clear view of what to do and what to expect in each city and we will bring it along to provide assistance.

It seems like a very good guide book and covers the three cities I am interested in. It is just what I needed.

I bought this book because it had all three cities that I will be visiting on a trip later this year. It's a decent introduction, but I don't think it's going to be super useful on a day-to-day basis on the trip. I'm ordering three separate small guides to use then.

I'm not familiar with the Cadogan Guide series. No Amazon Preview. All I had to go on was the book description. "This indispensable guidebook explores three fairytale capitals, peppered with domes, and spiked with spires." This led me to assume that there would be lots of pictures. But the only illustrations are about a dozen color pages at the front, and even they aren't very impressive. This might be a useful guide for someone who is going to Europe, but for the armchair traveler, it was a real letdown.

No wonder that this technology that relies so heavily on intelligence and integrity of humans is no longer accepted by a lot of countries.The book is well written and especially highlights the heroism of the rescuers.

I was but 8 years old and residing in California. I never heard about this incident until I search Amazon for related books. Boy oh boy, I hit the jackpot. A real page-turner. I do understand the import of the consequential investigation. Hopefully there never will be a repeat incident because the consequences would be too terrible to contemplate.

This is an amazing story of events that tell how a disaster unfolded in Idaho Falls!It is better than other books I have read that cover this topic and I love rereading this when I get into the mood of atomic energy.It's a great read by an intelligent author.

This is a great read. After having worked at the INEL and hearing accounts of what happened, it's good to hear the back story and facts about what really happened. Well, I guess you don't really learn what really happened, just given 3 options for you to decide on your own which is more plausible. There are a couple contradictions in the book, but nothing that really changes the outcome.

This book gives an excellent overview of the first nuclear accident in the United States involving deaths. It clearly presents the facts surrounding the accident, as well as the gruesome outcome for three workers involved with a test reactor during a shutdown for the holidays. It gives information about each of the men, their lives outside of their jobs, and what factors may have led to the explosion of a reactor causing their deaths. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the history of nuclear power in America, as well as anyone looking to learn more about the consequences of using nuclear power.

This is a true story of the only Americans killed by nuclear power for energy production. The back story of men involved really humanizes this tragic event. I read this book before "We Almost Lost Detroit" to maintain the timeline of the pioneer days of nuclear power. How many lives were changed in less than a second, is quite an understate for this story. Anyone interested in nuclear power should read this book to see what a rough and tumble beginning this industry had.

McKeown writes very gracefully and makes detailed technical events clear to the non-specialist reader. I like his respect for the subject and his not insisting on an overarching answer.

I worked as s DOE subcontractor. I was familiar with INEL at that time. I have never heard of the accident until I read this book.

I found this book reviewed in the Wall Street Journal a couple of months back, and drooled over the review for so long that my husband ordered me to just buy it already. And he has been delighted that I did. I don't consider myself a pie baker. My mother never made pies, and I have always been leery of making pie crust or fillings (other than pumpkin pie filling). So, when I got this book, I sat down and read it cover to cover. Mrs. English covers everything in this book: different types of pie plates and the advantages of each, ingredients for great crusts, and recipes for all kinds of crust. Her pie recipes are arranged by season, which is how she says she chooses which ones to make. There are dessert pies and meal pies (quiche, meat pie, etc); some are baked and the fillings for some are prepared on the stove top and poured into a prepared pie crust. This has been a great book, and the entire family has been thrilled that my dearly beloved told me to "Just buy it, already!"

I've had this book now for almost three weeks and so far have made the Ratatouille Pie, the Nectarine and Lavender Crostata, the Coconut Cream Pie, the Blueberry Refrigerator Pie, and today I made the Cherry Vanilla Pot Pie. Each pie has genuinely rivaled the previous one for being the best pie I've ever had. I've always loved pie crust more than the filling, but now I'm truly at a loss for what I love more.I have found the recipes easy to follow and have been impressed that I haven't had to go looking so far for crazy, hard-to-find, expensive ingredients to make outstanding pies. Her basic all-butter pie crust is incredibly flavorful and flaky. I will never buy another frozen pie crust! Prior to purchasing this book, I had always been afraid of making pies- it was the pie crust that worried me. But, her instructions are simple and it really did make a difference to put everything in the freezer.I have shared each pie with my husband, neighbors, and friends and everyone has been in love with the pies. Out of all the cookbooks I have, this is now in the top three. I really like that she has included savory and sweet pies and divided them up according to the seasons. With the exception of the Coconut Cream Pie that I made for a friend because it is her favorite type of pie, I am trying to be good and follow the progression of pies through the year.The recipes are laid out well and the photography is lovely. This book is truly a pleasure to look at as much as it is to cook from. My only "complaint" is that it would have been nice if there had been a photo of each pie. For some recipes, the photo is just of the ingredients, although I will admit that fresh lavender buds are much prettier than cooked ones (Nectarine and Lavender Crostata).I highly recommend purchasing and using this cookbook! Definitely read the introduction of the book to include the tools she recommends for pie-making. I purchased a pie-bird because of this book and for the first time ever my double-crust fruit pie did not bubble out of the top and cause a mess in my oven. "A Year of Pies" is definitely going to become years of pies for my family. Don't hesitate- get this book.

Have been wanting Ashley's book for a very long time and am happy to have it - so many great recipes! I thought it was odd that most of the pictures next to the recipes, however, are not of the actual pies! Usually you'll see a slice cut out so that the reader can see what the pie looks like fresh-baked on the inside which would make it not only more tempting, but show the reader what to expect, but other than that no issues.

I love this book so much. Ashley Adams does a great job of explaining how to bake beautiful pies. The photography in the book is amazing. It’s great for baking novices like my self and for seasoned bakers looking for interesting new pie recipes. I like this one so much I gave a copy to each of my family members when I hosted thanksgiving.

The layout and organization of this book is really well done. And the pictures quite lovely to behold. Her shortbread pie crust is the best and a new fav of mine. I love that she includes savories and some of the best pie ideas I've ever found. Love the clean natural, homestyle ingredients. Highly recommended.

I bought this book a couple of months ago and have really enjoyed it. My daughter is the type who prefers pie to cake--really, she prefers pie to almost anything else. So far I've made strawberry freezer pie, a blue berry pie, coconut cream, fig pudding pie (our tree is bearing heavily this year, so this was a very appreciated recipe), nectarine/lavendar (my daughter's request, and truly incredible), and we have all really enjoyed the treats, every week or two. I intend to try the more savory dinner pies when the weather cools. If you like pie, then I don't see how you can go wrong with this book!

Lovely book and great contents, but sadly the binding split in three places upon opening the book up to read. Kudos to the author, boos to the binder.

I love this book. The pictures are lovely. The variety of both sweet and savory pies is wonderful. I have only made one pie so far, but it turned out perfectly. In addition to lots great recipes, it also has lots of great information for the beginner pie maker. I think it would also make a great reference for the more experienced pie maker. All in all I would highly recommend this book to anyone with a passion for pies.

I love how these pie recipes follow the seasons and this book contains a good selection of sweet and savory pies, with a variety of crust styles. The recipes are not overly complicated, and I feel encouraged to take the techniques from this book and create my own dishes using what is in season at my local farmers' market.

I am an advanced German student and I needed a dictionary to assist me while reading a book, and this one is perfect for that. It has a very convenient size, but it contains everything that is essential to a dictionary, things like gender, plurals, grammar and sentence examples. It has helped me improve my progress in German since day one. Well worth the price!!

rather fascinating. Inexplicably my 1970 Langensheidt's had started to fall apart, so this volume was needed. Not only does it have thousands more entries, but their way of showing shades of meaning has improved as well.

Just an inexpensive German-English, English-German Dictionary, small in size and print. No colorful illustrations, pics, just text mostly. Purchased for my son, who was in beginning German Language class. Not comprehensive enough by the end of second semester, but a tidy, handy German pocket book for the initial class. (Who wants to spend $$$ on a dictionary the first semester anyway?) If you are in it for the long run, buy something more comprehensive. For the initial explorer, it is easy on the budget.

I don't really want to give it 5 stars, but if I am reviewing the product, and not my expectations, it delivers. It clearly states that it is a dictionary. And it is a dictionary. You can translate words. I was hoping for more of a translation book with common phrases, words etc. This is a dictionary.

My son is taking German and has his entire high school career so this book is very helpful to him and the reason I purchased it.

Lost my other dictionary thru a move....excellent to keep up with not forgetting German...Just wish the cover was of a better material as it is in heavy use...

An excellent book for translating German words into English

We bought this for my daughter's travel abroad adventures to Germany last summer, but she ended up not bringing it because it was too big, bulky and heavy for her to carry (the luggage weight limit was an issue) ... so it's probably good for desktop at home, but not for travel.
