I used to think of the gig economy in terms of being an Uber driver or a really good AirBnb host. It is becoming so much more. The Gig is Up explains the What, Why and How of this new way of working and getting work done.The “What†is bigger than I imagined. On one end of the continuum, it is the Uber driver that supplements income by occasionally turning on a smart phone app. On the other end, it is a freelance CEO that helps fast moving companies grow to new levels.The “Why†is because it is a more efficient way to get work done for companies and it a more flexible way to work for people of all talent and experience levels.The “How†is the most valuable part of this book. It teaches us all how to plug in and begin to benefit from this new way of working. I guess I am now scared and excited about the Gig Economy. I’m scared for those that do not understand this new way of working as many jobs today might not be around in 3-5 years. I’m excited because this is a recipe to a new way of working. I recommend this book to anyone that is out of work, planning a transition, or is reading the tea leaves and realizes their job or career progression is not going to sustain them for the next 10 years!

Extremely well organized, easy to read and very helpful as a guide to start you on your journey or make adjustments to your current path in the gig economy, freelance or contract work. The book is a must read. I didn’t even know what an AirBnb Experience was before reading this book, and now I want to try.
