About the Author
LUCY MAUD MONTGOMERY (1874-1942) was born in what is now New London, Prince Edward Island, and raised by her grandparents after the death of her mother when she was just two. She worked for a time as a teacher and a journalist, then wrote her first novel, Anne of Green Gables, in the evenings while caring for her grandmother. When the book appeared in 1908, it was an instant success; it would go on to sell millions of copies in dozens of languages the world over, making Anne one of literature's most beloved characters of all time.ELLY MACKAY is a paper artist and a children's book author and illustrator. She wrote and illustrated If You Hold a Seed, Shadow Chasers and Butterfly Park, among others. She studied illustration and printmaking at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and at the University of Canterbury, in New Zealand. Her distinctive pieces are made using paper and ink, and then are set into a miniature theatre and photographed, giving them their unique three-dimensional quality. Elly lives in Owen Sound, Ontario, with her husband and two children.

In this hateful age of filth and profanity, it is refreshing to read a story of how children should enjoy their youth. Love makes a much more enjoyable pastime than lust ever could. How I wish for the blessed days of old where children could be children before the days come when childish things must be put away. Read this book and enjoy the stroll with the children down the golden road.

The Story Girl is one of my favorite characters of all times. Her cleverness, imagination and creative tellings charm the reader. The bonds of relations and friendships told over precious youth reveal innocence, humor and dear learning experiences. It was a joy to read.
I just love the old values. And the relationships are so well described. A lot of them (though not all) get better, and she tells how. I wish we all had the joys of growing our own food because it is so real. So much of our culture now is artificial. The pleasures of the young people in this book were home made and creative. Their relationships were deep and personal.
Cute continuing stories of beloved characters from the first book. I enjoyed the first book but this one had me both laughing out loud a d tearing up. Sweet, simple and somewhat inspirational.
This book carries the family through tweens and teens and young adulthood. There is a spread of ages in the family, so there are still enough kid's antics while the book starts to tell the issues older kids face moving into more adult roles, and looking outside themselves and how the fit in the larger community outside family and school. My sons enjoyed this book as well as the Story Girl, and if you enjoyed the first one, you should follow the continuation of the story.
